Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is odorless, free from black particles, and its color varies from white to almost white. In manufacture it, cellulose acquired from wood pulp/Cotton Pulpis soaked in sodium hydroxide solution, to form an alkali cellulose, which is then reacted with M.C.A or S.M.C.A. This reaction is called etherification, leading to the conversion of cellulose into sodium CMC.
